Some fifty neighbors from both sides of Adams Blvd. near Normandie Avenue celebrated National Night Out on Crime Tuesday, August 7, by a march through the neighborhood, led by traffic-stopping cruisers of the Los Angeles Police Department. The march was followed by a big potluck. Sponsored countrywide by the National Association of Town Watch, National Night Out on Crime aims to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and promote police-community partnerships. Last year 37 million people took part in 15,000 communities.
We have nearly completed rebuilding our website to work with current generation software. A major change is that we have simplified the layout. This allows the site to display correctly on mobile devices such as iPads, iPhones and other smart phones. As part of the rebuild we are testing links and checking to see that companies and craftspeople are still in business. One probably little noticed feature you might want to look at is the Theatres section of Places to Go on the main menu. There are a really surprising number of little theatres quite close to West Adams.
Finally, we cannot recommend too highly our programmer, Peggy O'Connor of Mariposa Graphics.

She is also the programmer for the West Adams Heritage website.
USC and the nearby West Adams neighborhood where the double murder took place April 11 are still in shock. Police are hunting the cold-blooded killer in a widening manhunt, and a new wave of fear is settling into the neighborhood after two decades of reductions in local crime. As president of the Van Buren Place Community Restoration Association, the block club for the area where the murders happened, I want to express the most profound sympathy from all of our neighbors to the parents of Ying Wu, who lived among us, and of her male friend Ming Qu.
We have two great new restaurants here in West Adams, both worth your time. At 22nd Street and Union Avenue, Carlos Rodriguez, long a proprietor of restaurants in Culver City, has opened Con Sabor, an upscale Salvadoran eatery, soon to feature live jazz and in process of applying for a beer and wine license.
Then, on Figueroa just north of Adams Blvd. in a recently renovated strip mall we have the ultra modern Jacks N Joe, an all-day breakfast palace with a lengthy menu of flapjacks and omelets set off by excellent coffee.
Please note that as of January 2011 we have changed our mailing address. It is now:
